Myles Garrett breaks Jadeveon Clowney’s SEC freshman sack record

Texas A&M’s defense finally has something to brag about.

True freshman Myles Garrett sacked Louisiana-Monroe QB Pete Thomas in the first quarter Saturday, breaking Jadeveon Clowney’s SEC freshman record. The sack brings Garrett’s season total to 8.5 with more than three games remaining.

The five-star recruit made 5.5 sacks in the first three games against South Carolina, Lamar and Rice, but had just two sacks in the last five games.

Von Miller set the Texas A&M school record with 17 in 2009.
