Najee Harris continues to impress for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and next week, the Alabama great has a chance for his first live action in the NFL when the Steelers take on the Dallas Cowboys.
The first-round draft choice on Saturday had another good practice to continue his very strong start to camp, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. During an 11-on-11 drill, he broke through a pile for a 60-yard touchdown, one that got the crowd fired up for the former Alabama star.
However, his most impressive play came during the first play of team run drills, where he broke tackles where it looked like he wasnโt going to have any gain and turned it into about seven yards.
โWith this sport, itโs good on good, this is the NFL. My job is to make the most out of every play,โ Harris said. โBreak the first tackle, thatโs what I have to do.โ
After practice, he was asked about his first preseason game.
“The excitement’s there for sure,” he said. “But it’s a difference in being excited and really know that it’s not the real thing, but it’s also a good way to get your feet wet, and let the game slow down for me. I’m trying to play as much as I can in that game. But what I really want to do is take as much game reps as possible, good, bad, whatever, do what I can to learn all the mistakes I do and then go in the film room, break down film and try to keep working.”
