The crew of SEC Nation was on the road in Knoxville, Tennessee, for Rivalry Week to see the top-20 season finale between bitter in-state rivals No. 14 Vanderbilt and No. 19 Tennessee.
Vanderbilt still has an outside shot at making the College Football Playoff, but it will have to get past the Vols first to have any shot at sneaking in, while Tennessee will be playing to crush its in-state rivals’ postseason hopes.
Celebrity comedian and Commodores’ mega-fan Nate Bargatze joined the SEC Nation crew as their special guest, and he poked a bit of fun at Paul Finebaum and the fans who call into his daily show on SEC Network.
“You listen to Paul’s show, and he just lets these guys call in, and it’s like jack rabbits on the phone,” Bargatze said. “Paul, just let’s them go with no comment.”
This isn’t the first time Bargatze has brought his comedic talents to a major college football kickoff show this season, as he was also the special guest picker on College GameDay back in Week 9 when Mizzou visited Nashville for a matchup against Vanderbilt.
He made headlines then with his hilarious recruiting pitch to 5-star quarterback and current Georgia commit Jared Curtis, saying that they could become “best friends” if he decided to flip his commitment to the Commodores. There wasn’t a recruiting pitch this time around, but his impression of Finebaum’s callers still drew plenty of laughs.
