Navy coach shares incredibly candid quote about BYU, dealing with campus parties during pandemic

It’s always refreshing when a college football coach offers up an accurate and candid quote. That’s the case recently with Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo.
“There’s no better places for creating a bubble than the service academies. Our schools are surrounded by gates and guards with machine guns,” he said.
As was noted on Twitter by Rodger Sherman, the Navy-BYU game tonight may be one of the few to have a low chance of being called off because of campus parties.
The Midshipmen and Cougars will meet at 8 tonight on ESPN. Navy was supposed to open its football season in August against Notre Dame in Ireland, but the coronavirus pandemic canceled that game.
BYU also needed a game after the Cougars lost a game against Utah after the Pac-12 decided to play a conference-only schedule, and then called it off altogether.
No fans will be allowed at the game at the Naval Academy, and neither will the Brigade of Midshipmen.
Although Navy’s student body, including the football team, has been isolated on the Annapolis campus, the teams will perform in front of thousands of empty seats, the Associated Press reported.
“Obviously, I would have loved to have fans there,” Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said. “But it’s the right call.”
