Alabama remains the top team in the SEC, and in the midst of its bye week, coach Nick Saban outlined what the Crimson Tide are working on this week.

“Consistency of performance, especially on defense,” Saban said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “We have a lot of young players playing… we have to develop depth in players, especially at wide receiver with (Jaylen) Waddle out, we need players to step up and be a playmaker on that side. I don’t think there’s a player on our team that doesn’t know they need to improve, even if it’s just 1%.”

One of those who has already improved is LB Dylan Moses, who Saban said has stepped up his leadership this season.

Saban was asked if he’d ever run for public office in light of former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville winning a U.S. Senate race.

“I can answer that real quick, no,” Saban said of running. “Tommy has always been someone I had tremendous respect for… I’m happy for him, I think he’ll do a good job, we’ve tried to say out of the political realm here.”
