Nick Saban agrees with anonymous coaches poll that called him overrated

Recently, CBS Sports ran an anonymous poll of college coaches, asking them to name the most overrated and underrated coaches in college football.
Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh was declared the most overrated by 13 percent of the responders, with Alabama’s Nick Saban coming in second place, appearing on nine percent of the ballots, even though he has won five titles in his storied career.
Surprisingly, Saban agreed with that assessment from his peers, telling the Dan Patrick Show that he thinks his entire staff should get more credit for the Crimson Tide’s recent run of dominance (via AL.com):
“Well, first of all, I probably agree with that,” Saban said on the Dan Patrick Show. “The success we have is really contributed to by a lot of people. We have really good coaches. We have a really good staff of people who work with players. We have a tremendous amount of really, really good players who have made a tremendous commitment to a standard of excellence that has created a lot of success here.
“I feel like I get far too much credit for that so I would probably tend to agree with whoever voted that way, to be honest with you.”
Alabama will once again have a highly-rated squad this fall, and if Saban wins a sixth championship, it’ll be interesting to see if some of those naysayers back off their overrated claims.
