Nick Saban culture: Jalen Hurts calls out Oklahoma Instagram post

You can take Jalen Hurts out of Alabama, but you can’t take the Alabama media training out of Hurts.
The Oklahoma quarterback and Alabama transfer commented on an Instagram post by the official Oklahoma football account and replied, “rat poison,” in reference to the Sooners’ offense being ranked No. 1 in the country, as a picture of Hurts looms above several teammates.
This, of course, references Alabama coach Nick Saban’s now famous quote from two years ago following a 27-19 win against Texas A&M.
โIโm trying to get our players to listen to me instead of listening to you guys,โ Saban said. โAll that stuff you write about how good we are, and all that stuff they hear on ESPN, itโs like poison. Itโs like taking poison โฆ like rat poison! So, Iโm asking them, โare you going to listen to me, or are you going to listen to these guys about how good you are?’โ
This will be something to watch going forward because the Sooners don’t expect to be challenged much, at least defensively, outside of Texas next month and TCU in November. They remain the consensus favorite to win the Big 12 and are commonly picked to reach the College Football Playoff.
