Nick Saban and Miss Terry have been synonymous with the Tuscaloosa community for the last two decades, dating back to when Saban was named Alabama’s head coach ahead of the 2027 season.

Even though the couple has moved to Florida after Saban’s retirement, Tuscaloosa has, and always will, hold a special place in their heart.

“Even though we’re not the coach anymore, we’re still a part of the community, and we wanna help promote the community and the people who helped us be successful and supported us for many, many years,” Saban said at the premiere of his ESPN documentary, Saban, at the Bama Theatre on Thursday.

One of the ways the Sabans are supporting the city is the construction of Saban Center, a $120 million facility focused on “STEM and the arts,” according to its website. It also includes their charity, Nick’s Kids, and a scholarship program they set up at Alabama designed to help first-generation college students get financial support.

Of course, there have been the lows, including the tragic 2011 tornado that took over 50 lives.

“We’ve always tried to support our community. Nick’s Kids has given a lot to first-generation scholarships, to building houses for folks. We’re building this children’s learning center right now. So we wanna still try to impact and influence people,” he said.
