Nick Saban explains why he doesn’t like to watch football games for fun

While the rest of us will be on our couch watching Georgia and TCU battle it out for a National Championship, Nick Sabin will not be joining.

Though Saban is usually on the sidelines for it, jealousy is not the reason he wonโ€™t be watching. Itโ€™s simply because all he would be thinking about is how heโ€™d be scheming up the two teams.

โ€œI donโ€™t even like to watch games, to be honest with you, because it just feels like work,โ€ Saban said. โ€œI see a team run a formation and a play and I think โ€˜How do we adjust to that? What would we do? How would we block that stunt when they do a certain blitz on defense.โ€™ This is no enjoyment to me. I might as well be at the office getting ready to play the game.โ€

The response is a legendary one from a legendary coach. Frankly, itโ€™s what makes him great. Insanity? Maybe. But that is the mentality it takes to be a 7-time champion.
