Nick Saban knows a thing or two about big college football games. The seven-time national champion coached in hundreds as head coach of the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. He was pretty effective at getting his team to rise to the occasion, but on Saturday, he revealed he wouldn’t have minded a little assistance.
During College GameDay, Pat McAfee asked Saban if he had used “any ancient medicine to potentially calm the boys” ahead of a big game. Saban quickly answered with a legendary retort.
“I actually think if we had some of your gummies, we’d have won more games,” Saban chuckled.
McAfee, holding back a laugh himself, said, “vitamins are good” in response to Saban. Naturally, social media enjoyed the former head coach’s quip.
Nick Saban surely could have used a gummy or two when he returned to LSU as Alabama’s head coach in 2008. His brief NFL stint helped mitigate the animosity Tigers fans had for his move to the Crimson Tide. However, they weren’t happy to see him on another SEC sideline so shortly after leaving Baton Rouge. The same can be said about the Ole Miss Rebels’ feelings toward Lane Kiffin, who may take a gummy himself this afternoon prior to tonight’s LSU-Ole Miss kickoff (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
