Nick Saban offers thoughts on Sam Leavitt’s injury status ahead of Ole Miss game

The No. 7 LSU Tigers are getting ready to head into Oxford for their highly anticipated showdown with the No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels in what will be Lane Kiffin‘s first time back in The Grove since his controversial departure for Baton Rouge last November.
Adding to the intrigue of this heavyweight bout is the injury status of star LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt, who was listed as doubtful on the Tigers’ initial injury report earlier this week.
Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban joined the Pat McAfee show on Friday morning to discuss this heavyweight SEC bout, and he told McAfee and company that he isn’t sold on Leavitt actually being hurt.
“If I was a betting man I would say that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Sam Leavitt,” Saban said. “…Don’t lose your edge because you think he’s not going to play, and then he shows up and plays. I’m 100% expecting Sam Leavitt to play in this game.”

If there’s anybody who would try and throw off their opponent by putting their star quarterback on the injury report just days before kickoff, it’s defiantly Lane Kiffin. The fact that this is also happening against his former program makes this an even more Kiffin-esque thing to do.
All that being said, nobody is going to know whether or not Leavitt is actually 100% until the Tigers take the field on Saturday night.
