Nick Saban trolls Tennessee on GameDay; Vols fans respond with NSFW chant

College GameDay made the trek up to Rocky Top in Week 4 for the top-15 showdown between the Texas Longhorns and the Tennessee Volunteers in Neyland Stadium, and the Vols fans were out in force.
This was the first time the GameDay crew made the trip to Knoxville since last September’s overtime thriller between Tennessee and the Georgia Bulldogs, a game the Vols narrowly lost in heartbreaking fashion.
If there’s one man who knows anything about handing Tennessee devastating losses, it’s Nick Saban, and he was back on Rocky Top for College GameDay on Saturday morning. The former Alabama head coach took the chance to troll the UT fans in attendance, and they responded in kind with a very not-safe-for-work chant.
“I am all in on the University of Tennessee,” Saban said. “Because, we smoked 16 out of 17 cigars when we played you all.”
Volunteers fans in attendance, many of whom suffered through almost 2 decades of Saban’s dominance, didn’t take kindly to being set up by the former Crimson Tide football coach, and they let Saban know exactly what they thought in very specific terms.
It’s clear that even in retirement there’s still no love lost between Saban and the state of Tennessee, but that’s just another thing that makes college football so special.
If the Vols can pull off the upset this afternoon against top-ranked Texas, then they’ll probably be too busy celebrating to remember much of what Saban said on GameDay.
