Nick Saban offered an update on Tyler Harrell’s foot injury on Wednesday on the SEC coaches media teleconference.
“He has not been able to practice this week. He will not play in this game,” Saban said. “He’s kind of day-to-day with this foot that he has. Hopefully, he’ll be back sometime soon.”
Alabama will take on UL-Monroe this week as the Crimson Tide looks to correct some of the issues that led to the narrow escape at Texas. Harrell has not recorded any stats this season. A report earlier this week from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports suggested that Harrell could return for the Arkansas game on Oct. 1.
Harrell was expected to be a key figure in the Alabama passing game this season, primarily because of his speed as the Crimson Tide look to replace NFL-bound wideouts Jameson Williams and John Metchie.
Harrell at Louisville caught 18 passes for 523 yards and 6 touchdowns over 13 games during the 2021 season. Harrell was clocked at 4.24 in the 40-yard dash at a Louisville Pro Day in 2021.
