North Carolina fans clear out of Kenan Stadium before halftime of beatdown vs. Clemson

The preseason hype and millions in free media publicity that surrounded Bill Belichick’s transformation from the NFL into college football apparently has North Carolina fans disguising themselves as empty seats.
Belichick’s North Carolina team faced off against Clemson at home Saturday afternoon, and 50,000-seat Kenan Stadium was reportedly at near capacity for the noon kickoff. By the time halftime rolled around, however, many Tar Heels fans figured there were better ways to spend the day in Chapel Hill.
This isn’t the first instance in 2025 of North Carolina fans beating a hasty retreat while their team struggles on the field. The Tar Heels debuted amid much pomp at home against TCU in front of a sold-out Kenan Stadium. But after the pregame fireworks and a first-drive score by the home team, TCU took over – and UNC fans took off.
The 2-2 Tar Heels trailed Clemson 35-3 at halftime Saturday, which was more than enough to cause many in Carolina blue and white to alter their afternoon plans en route to the parking lot.
North Carolina’s only wins so far this season have come against Richmond and Charlotte.
