Much has been made in recent years about Kentucky’s offensive line being the “Big Blue Wall,” and creating holes for the backbone of the offense, the running game.
However, the defensive line this season is setting out to make a name for itself, too. Position coach Anwar Stewart explained what fuels the linemen.
“Coach Wolf has this thing about him that gets those guys going, and so we’ve got to match their intensity,” Stewart said on BBN Tonight of offensive line coach Eric Wolford. “We’ve got to match their work ethic. We just want to get out and just compete against one another. We want to be able to dominate on the offensive side, and on the defensive side. If you always look at past championships, most championship teams had great defensive lines, and that’s what we’re building.”
Kentucky finished seventh in the SEC last season in rushing defense, and was 11th in sacks to offer a perspective on the unit did in 2020.
