The struggles of South Carolina football have reached almost every walk of life around the Palmetto State. But they’ve certainly reached the political class, as one prominent politician has raised the possibility of launching a fundraising effort to oust coach Will Muschamp.

Jaime Harrison, a Democrat who lost a U.S. Senate race last week to incumbent Republican Lindsey Graham, tweeted on Sunday morning, “I’m so close to setting up a fundraising effort to buy out Muschamp’s contract! Jeez! Dude has got to go! #seriously #gamecockfootball #CarolinaFootball”

One reply to Harrison said, “If you can do that you’ll easily be elected Governor!”

Muschamp’s buyout is a reported $13.4 million, however, frustration continues to grow because seven of South Carolina’s last 11 losses have come by 20 or more points, including the 48-3 drubbing to Texas A&M on Saturday. The Gamecocks fell to 2-4 and are at Ole Miss next week.

There are questions at quarterback after the Gamecocks played 3 QBs on Saturday, and on defense. South Carolina has surrendered 1,071 yards and 100 points in losses to LSU and the Aggies its past two games.
