Notre Dame LB Drue Tranquill explains why he doesn’t like LSU

LSU is looking for win No. 10 in the Citrus Bowl, and the Tigers will face off against one Notre Dame player who doesn’t care much for LSU.
According to Tom Davis with the News-Sentinel, Notre Dame LB Drue Tranquill said that he doesn’t like LSU. Despite calling LSU a great football team and pointing to the bowl game as an incredible opportunity to play the Tigers, Tranquill insisted he simply doesn’t like LSU.
He did go on to explain that he was raised by two Auburn graduates and grew up cheering for the blue and orange and RB Ronnie Brown. Tranquill’s time as an Auburn fan led to a natural dislike of LSU:
“I’ll say this lightly,” Tranquill said carefully, “because I grew up loving Auburn, so I don’t like LSU. I grew up; may parents always raised me not to like LSU. So to have the opportunity to go against them, it’s an honor, and I really look forward to it.”
Tranquill’s comments are hardly bulletin board material, but LSU likely needs no extra motivation for the game against the Fighting Irish. A win would give the Tigers their first 10-win season since 2013 and a strong finish for Coach O to build on moving forward.
Kickoff for the Citrus Bowl is set for 1 pm EST New Year’s Day on ABC.
