Class of 2028 quarterback Trey Tagliaferri announced on Friday that he will play for the Oklahoma Sooners at the next level, committing to OU just a few days after decommitting from Notre Dame on July 1st. It’s worth noting that Tagliaferri originally committed to Notre Dame just over a week ago on June 25.
In other words, it’s been a pretty eventful week for Tagliaferri.
Tagliaferri hails from Oradell, New Jersey and is a 4-star prospect in the Class of 2028, standing at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with room to grow entering his junior year at Bergen Catholic high school. In addition to Oklahoma and Notre Dame, Tagliaferri holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio State and Ole Miss, to name a few.
Tagliaferri is the first commitment of the 2028 cycle for the Sooners, who boast a top 5 class in the 2027 rankings. Oklahoma has so far added 2 quarterbacks in the Class of 2027: 3-star Jamison Roberts (AL) and unrated prospect Noah Smith, who hails from Lawton, Oklahoma.
The Sooners begin their 2027 campaign on September 4 against UTEP. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but it was moved to Friday night earlier this week.
