Oklahoma adds experienced OL for 2026 via transfer portal, per report
Oklahoma continued to add to its offensive line depth for the 2026 season with the signing of Eastern Kentucky transfer Fred Hinton.
Hinton’s transfer from the tiny United Athletic Conference to the mighty SEC was reported on Saturday afternoon by Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of CBS Sports, as well as Collin Kennedy, who covers Oklahoma for 247Sports.
The 6-foot-4, 318-pound Hinton will reportedly arrive in Norman with 2 seasons of eligibility still remaining.
Hinton would become just the latest offensive addition for Oklahoma through the transfer portal during this cycle. He would be the 5th, to be exact, joining E’Marion Harris, Peyton Joseph and Caleb Nitta as new offensive linemen transferring from outside to OU.
Then there is the case of former Sooners offensive lineman Kenny Wermy, who has transferred back to Oklahoma after 1 season at Central Oklahoma.
According to Eastern Kentucky’s statistics, Hinton has played in 23 combined games over 2 seasons. Hinton has reportedly also made 6 starts, so while he’ll be severely challenged with the massive step up in competition coming to the SEC, Hinton has at least shown the ability to start games during his collegiate career.
Hinton is yet another product of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and he was a 3-star recruit during the 2024 cycle.
