Oklahoma has announced a date change for a pair of non-conference games at the start of the Sooners’ 2027 season.
According to a release from Oklahoma on Wednesday, the Sooners will now face off against Utah State in Week 0, Aug. 28. In addition, the Sooners’ matchup against SMU has been moved from Sept. 11 to Sept. 4. Oklahoma vs. SMU is set to be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Both these games were previously scheduled.

The Sooners still have one non-conference slot available for the 2027 season. Oklahoma’s SEC schedule consists of the following: home matchups against Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, vs. Texas (in Dallas), at Auburn, at LSU, at Ole Miss and at Vanderbilt.
Oklahoma has faced off against Utah State 5 times, and the Sooners beat the Aggies each instance. Only one of those 5 games, the most recent matchup in 2010, was relatively close with a 31-24 final score.
OU’s history against SMU is only slightly more significant. The Sooners hold a 6-1-1 record against the Mustangs and their only loss came in the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl.
