Oklahoma’s ‘Stripe the Stadium’ tradition began more than a decade ago. Last season, the Sooners striped out Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for the Tulane game. In 2023, it happened against SMU.
OU’s matchup against Michigan will have huge ramifications on what the Sooners can accomplish in 2025. A win would potentially put OU in position to contend for a College Football Playoff berth into November. A loss to the Wolverines would put Brent Venables in a very difficult position as he tries to retain his job beyond this fall.
This game will serve as a homecoming of sorts for Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, who played for the Sooners during the Bob Stoops era. Moore is entering his second full season as Michigan’s head coach in 2025.
