Oklahoma band to have fitting replacement for Week 3 game at Temple
Oklahoma won’t have its own band in Philadelphia while the 13th-ranked Sooners play at Temple on Saturday in a Week 3 nonconference matchup.
The Pride of Oklahoma band will be staying home this weekend instead of making the long journey to Philly. The band’s social media account posted a message on Friday morning to explain why it won’t be traveling with the team. Because the band does travel with the football team to its SEC road games, that means that this matchup against the Owls wasn’t on the band’s travel schedule for the 2025 season.
The social media post explaining the Temple game absence also made sure to tell fans that the band would see everyone for Oklahoma‘s Week 4 home SEC showdown against No. 24 Auburn. But that’s next week.
For this Saturday’s noon ET kickoff in Philadelphia, in a game that will be on ESPN2, Oklahoma will be enlisting one of Temple’s bitter Big 5 rivals to replace the Sooner band. Instead of The Pride of Oklahoma being at Lincoln Financial Field, it’ll be the Saint Joseph’s University band pumping out the sound to combat its Philly rivals from Temple.
Here is the post from Oklahoma’s band as it respectfully sits this one out:
It’ll be quite the scene in Philly on Saturday afternoon as 2 Philadelphia college bands go at it in a sporting event that features a football team from Oklahoma, of all places.
