Gabriel Osborne Jr, one of the top cornerbacks in the Class of 2027 rankings, announced on Monday that he will play college football at Oklahoma, choosing the Sooners over the likes of Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan.
That’s a simply massive pickup for Brent Venables and the Sooners. Osborne is now the 2nd highest-rated commit on the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the 2027 cycle according to 247 Sports, behind only 5-star OL Kaeden Penny.
Perhaps most important of all, Venables keeps another top Oklahoma talent home. The Sooners now hold commitments from the No. 1, 2 and 3 prospects out of the Sooner State in the Class of 2027.

According to 247Sports, Osborne is considered to be the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2027 cycle. He’s also considered to be the No. 6 cornerback and No. 2 prospect out of Oklahoma.
Osborne is the 3rd cornerback commitment of the cycle for Oklahoma, joining 4-star CB Mikhail McCreary and 3-star CB Mikyal Davis.
