Oklahoma beats out Clemson to land 4-star 2028 LB out of Georgia

Oklahoma fans may most be concerned with the next game of the 2026 campaign, but Sooners coaches are thinking about both the present and the future. On Tuesday, Brent Venables‘ staff added a new pledge for OU’s 2028 class.
Jay Schell is the newest Oklahoma commitment. The blue-chip linebacker announced his plans to play for the Sooners on Tuesday.
Out of Rabun Gap (Georgia) Nacoochee High School, Schell is listed as currently measuring 6-3 and 214 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Schell is rated 4-stars, the No. 8 linebacker, No. 17 player in the state of Georgia and No. 142 prospect overall in the Class of 2028.
Even though the Class of 2028 is over a year away from signing, Schell already has a whopping 47 scholarship offers. Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mizzou, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M are among Schell’s listed offers.

For Tuesday’s announcement, Schell told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that he was down to Oklahoma and Clemson. It’s “Boomer Sooner” for the linebacker out of the Peach State.
