Oklahoma’s coaching search is revving up from Norman, as it’s been 3 days since Lincoln Riley left the Sooners for the USC Trojans.

Former OU head coach Bob Stoops will coach the Sooners upcoming bowl game after Riley’s departure, and he’s likely to get $325,000 for it, too.

Where will Oklahoma turn to hire its next head coach? That’s certainly a developing situation with many reported candidate; however, college football insider Bruce Feldman said Wednesday that one NFL coach is not an option.

“Have seen some speculation about Matt Rhule to OU,” Feldman tweeted. “Was told that is not happening.”

Rhule, of course, was hired at Carolina from Baylor in 2020, and he’s 10-18 as the Panthers head coach.

Other Oklahoma candidates that have been discussed the most are Luke Fickell, Shane Beamer and Brent Venables.
