Oklahoma freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers has been dismissed from the team, according to a report on Thursday afternoon by Colton Sulley, who covers the Sooners for The Oklahoman.
There was no reason given yet for Rogers’ dismissal by OU’s athletic communications office.
Rogers only played 6 snaps combined in Oklahoma‘s first 4 games of the 2026 season. The 5-foot-11, 182-pound native of Wilmington, Del., had no stats attached to his name during his brief time with the Sooners.
After playing his high school ball at Appoquinimink in Middletown, Del., Rogers was a 4-star recruit in the Class of 2026, according to 247Sports. The nation’s No. 52 wide receiver prospect was a Delaware Class 3A first-team all-state player as a junior in 2024 and then was a second-team all-state performer as a senior in 2025.
Oklahoma then snatched Rogers from the clutches of an SEC rival, with Alabama also being in the mix for Rogers. Nebraska and Penn State were also among the other top programs who were after Rogers, who ultimately chose to head to Norman.
But his time at Oklahoma was unproductive and, ultimately, short, according to Sulley’s report:
Oklahoma will have its hands full on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC) in Dallas against the top-ranked team in the country, as it seeks a huge upset to turn its season around. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Sooners’ chances to pull off the shocker at the Cotton Bowl and take down Texas:
