Oklahoma gets injury update for pair of top offensive linemen in leadup to Kentucky battle
Oklahoma is coming off a possible season-saving victory last week over then-No. 1 Texas, and the Sooners will try to keep rolling and avoid a letdown on Saturday night when they host No. 15 Kentucky.
But when the Wildcats and Sooners kick things off at 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network, the home team might be missing 2 of its top offensive linemen against Will Stein‘s defense.
The Friday night SEC injury report was released, and it contained some potentially bad news for Oklahoma as it tries to keep the momentum going from that wild Week 6 upset over the rival Longhorns. Sooners starting offensive linemen Michael Fasusi and Eddy Pierre-Louis were both listed as doubtful for the Week 7 battle with Kentucky, which would be double the pain for Brent Venables in the trenches as Oklahoma tries to rev up its offense in front of the home fans.
Fasusi is a sophomore from Nigeria, while Pierre-Louis is also a sophomore, but both are huge pieces on the interior for Oklahoma, which will be trying to continue to put a rough September in the rear-view mirror against a Kentucky team storms into Norman on a 4-game winning streak.
There is technically still hope for OU to have both linemen, or at least one, but the way both players’ status trended on Friday night served as an ominous sign that the Sooners will be severely shorthanded as they try to cool off the red-hot Cats in primetime.
With Oklahoma possibly short-handed in the trenches, here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Sooners’ chances to overcome those possible losses and still beat Kentucky on Saturday night in Norman:
