Oklahoma on Tuesday added to its 2026 recruiting class, picking up a commitment from a defensive lineman from Virginia.

T-Ron Richardson, a 3-star recruit from Hopewell (Va.), has pledged to the Sooners, announcing his decision at a recruiting ceremony at his high school. Richardson becomes the 18th player of the class and the 6th defensive lineman to pledge to Brent Venables‘ program. According to 247Sports’ Composite rankings, he is the country’s No. 49 defensive lineman and the No. 11 player in the state of Virginia.

As a junior, Richardson totaled 52 tackles and an outstanding 19.0 tackles for a loss for a Hopewell team that finished 5-6 in 2024.

The Sooners need to quickly turn their fortunes if they’re to become a force in the SEC. After a 10-3 mark in 2023, Oklahoma slumped to a 6-7 record in 2024, including a 2-6 mark in league play. They went 4-1 to start the season, but went just 2-6 the rest of the way.

Recruiting-wise, the Sooners pulled in the No. 17 recruiting class in the country in 2025. Their transfer portal haul ranked No. 12 in the nation.
