Oklahoma lands commitment from California DL, former FSU pledge

James “Tank” Carrington has found a new home in Norman.

The defensive lineman out of California had committed to play for Florida State in June. On Thursday, however, he backed off that pledge.

On Saturday, Carrington announced that he is now pledged to play for Oklahoma. He shared the big news with Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

Out of Irvine (California) Crean Lutheran High School, Carrington is listed as measuring 6-3 and 270 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Carrington is rated 3-stars, the No. 42 player in the state of California, No. 63 defensive lineman and No. 530 prospect overall in the Class of 2026. He picked up scholarship offers from 30 programs during his recruitment.

With Carrington on board, Oklahoma now has 17 verbal commitments in its 2026 class, which ranks No. 24 nationally on the Composite. Fans can get a preview of what Carrington brings to Norman by checking out highlights from his junior season with Las Vegas Bishop Gorman in the clip below, via Hudl:
