The No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners have been lighting things up on the field, getting out to a 4-0 start and rocketing up the AP top-25, and that success on the field has started to translate into success on the recruiting trail as well.
Head coach Brent Venables has already gained commitments from several highly rated high schoolers for the 2026 cycle, and he just picked up one for the 2027 cycle in the form of elite Lone Star State junior Mikhail McCreary.
According to Rivals recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett, McCreary committed to the Sooners on Monday morning over several other top programs, including Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and SMU.

The San Antonio native rates out as the 20th best corner in the nation for the 2027 cycle, and the 30th best recruit overall in the state of Texas, per Rivals.
With his pledge secured, the Sooners now have 5 total commitments for 2027, with other names including elite offensive tackle Cooper Hacket and dynamic wide receiver Demare Dezeurn.
With continued success on the gridiron, Venables and his staff are only likely to continue gaining momentum on the recruiting trail. If the Sooners can parlay their fast start into a College Football Playoff bid, then they will once again become a top destination for elite talent to flock to on both sides of the ball.
