Oklahoma takes 4th-quarter lead over Texas with pick-6 of Arch Manning
Oklahoma safety Peyton Bowen made a huge play in the fourth quarter of the Red River Rivalry on Saturday afternoon in Dallas.
With the game tied at 17-17, Arch Manning was facing a third-and-long. He rolled to his right and looked for star receiver Cam Coleman downfield.
Instead, he found Bowen, Oklahoma‘s starting safety and best ball-hawk. Bowen returned the errant pass for a touchdown to give the Sooners a 24-17 lead — and their second non-offensive touchdown of the game.
Here’s a clip:
That was the first pick-6 of Manning’s collegiate career. It also gave OU its first lead of game — the Sooners trailed 17-7 at halftime but scored the first 17 points of the second half.
Earlier in the game, Oklahoma got on the board with a blocked punt touchdown.
Oklahoma is looking to prevent Texas from winning its third consecutive game in this series — something the Longhorns haven’t accomplished since 1999.
