The Oklahoma Sooners attempted to have a bit of fun at the expense of Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard on Friday during pregame warmups for the Sooners-Crimson Tide first-round College Football Playoff matchup (8 pm ET, ABC/ESPN), poking at Bernard’s inability to work through Memorial Stadium’s lights in 2024.

Memorial Stadium’s end zone big-screen display asked fans to vote on the “Song Of The Game”, with the choices being “All Of The Lights”, “Kill The Lights” and “Lights”.

Bernard said earlier this week that the configuration of the light structures at Memorial Stadium were distracting when Alabama lost to Oklahoma 24-3 in Norman in 2024 – a game that saw him record 4 catches for 60 yards.

“Their lights, it kind of got me last time that we played,” Bernard said, via a video from AL.com. “The lights were kind of, I don’t know, in a weird position, I guess you could say.”

Bernard also mentioned that Alabama players previously had issues adjusting to the firm natural surface at Memorial Stadium, but did not expect that to be an issue on the return trip.

“I think our equipment staff has done a great job at putting us in the right cleats and whatnot, so we won’t have that issue (on Friday),” he said.
