Inter-conference transfers have become more and more popular thanks to the continued growth of the portal, and the SEC saw another such move Sunday.
Per reports from 247Sports’ Chris Hummer, reserve Oklahoma receiver Zion Ragins announced that he will be heading to join Jeff Lebby and Mississippi State in Starkville next season.
Ragins started in 5 games as a freshman in 2024 before taking a redshirt year in 2025. Known for his blazing speed, Ragins clocked a 10.4 100-meter in high school and was rated as a 4-star recruit by 247Sports.
Ragins racked up 10 catches for 68 yards and a pair of scores during the ’24 season, but his lack of playing time this past fall suggests that his services can be better utilized elsewhere.
The Macon, Georgia native may be looking to take a similar path to soon-to-be NFL Draft pick Brenen Thompson, as the latter began his career at Texas before also spending some time in Norman. A similarly speed-focused receiver, Thompson then transferred to join the Bulldogs and exploded onto the scene with a 1,000-yard season that put him on NFL scouts’ radars.
With rising sophomore quarterback Kamario Taylor also set to return, Lebby is building a fast and talented offense for what he hopes is a breakthrough year in Starkville.
