Old Dominion football unveiled some sweet retro helmets for its upcoming homecoming match this season against Texas A&M Commerce.
The design calls back to the 1970s, dubbed the “racetrack logo.” It features a light blue helmet with a dark blue ODU font, which the Monarchs wore from 1975-1980.

The Monarchs had a week of glory last season when they shocked Virginia Tech to open the year, 20-17. They very nearly knocked off Virginia 2 weeks later, falling 16-14.
Unfortunately for ODU (and VT) the Monarchs struggled the rest of the way, winning just 2 more games to finish with a record of 3-9.
Old Dominion’s homecoming match with Texas A&M Commerce is set for Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
