Ole Miss AD says he’s ‘tuned out’ La. governor suggesting National Guard be called in for LSU game

The Ole Miss campus will be at fever pitch on Saturday when Lane Kiffin and LSU come to town.
While security will be a primary concern, athletic director Keith Carter has made it clear that he doesn’t need input from Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry after Landry said that Ole Miss may need to call in the National Guard, and that Kiffin and the Tigers may need to be flown in on military aircraft for protection.
“Honestly, I’ve kind of tuned out the governor of Louisiana,” Carter said, per Supertalk Mississippi’s Caleb Salers. “That’s not something we’re focused on here on campus.”
Landry, of course, has been in the news over the past few weeks during LSU’s professional players saga. When the SEC later threatened to expel LSU if it ignored the conference’s policy and added professional players to its roster, Landry accused the conference of trying to make an example of the university. Ultimately, Kiffin opted not to add DaeQuan Wright and Zxavian Harris, the two players at the center of the controversy.
Meanwhile, Carter urged fans coming to town for the game to take precautions due to the added traffic.
“I would encourage everybody that’s coming into town to be a little bit more patient than normal. Try to get to the game early and avoid some of the rush right before kickoff,” he said.
