Ole Miss’ secondary is due to suffer a hit to its depth with the news that Lakevias Daniel has entered the transfer portal.
The news was reported by the Rivals Transfer Portal Twitter account, and Daniel retweeted it. Daniel is from Louisville, Mississippi and previously played at Jones College. He came to Ole Miss as a 3-star JUCO prospect who was ranked the No. 8 cornerback in the country a year ago, and the No. 10 player in Mississippi, according to 247Sports. He originally committed the Rebels Dec. 18, 2019. He had 11 offers, including Tennessee, Louisville and West Virginia.
He was rated the No. 35 junior college prospect and No. 7 JUCO cornerback in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Daniel saw little playing time in 2020 for the Rebels, as he debuted on special teams against Arkansas, and overall appeared in five games. He made three tackles, including two against Vanderbilt.
Daniel is the fourth player from the Ole Miss Rebels to enter the transfer portal this month, after QBs Grant Tisdale and Kade Renfrow and wide receiver Demarcus Gregory.
