Ole Miss fans have been waiting to greet Lane Kiffin in Oxford since he decided to leave for LSU.
From the moment he decided to leave the team right before it started its run in the College Football Playoff, this game was only a matter of when, not if. When the SEC announced the schedule, fans in Oxford circled this game on the calendar and had months to stew over what had happened.
For the Rebels’ fans, Saturday night was finally the opportunity to welcome Kiffin back to Oxford. To no one’s surprise, the fans welcomed him back with a chant that’s not supposed to air on broadcast TV:
Chants similar to the ones heard at the start of the game have been voiced since the morning the sun came up in Oxford on Saturday. Kiffin has been a huge talking point in the game for obvious reasons, but this game is personal for every single person involved in the game.
Regardless of how the game ends on Saturday night, the animosity and hatred don’t figure to be done when the game is over.
