Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss flipped a commitment from a former Wisconsin pledge on Monday afternoon, landing 3-star defensive lineman Carmelow Reed.
Reed hails from Rich Township high school in Olympia Fields, Illinois, just south of Chicago. The Class of 2026 edge rusher originally committed to play for Wisconsin on April 7, and had an official visit to Madison scheduled for this Thursday, June 6. He took an official visit to Ole Miss on May 30 and apparently liked what he saw.
Reed also holds offers from the likes of LSU, Mizzou and Michigan State, to name a few. He’s also a massive prospect, standing at 6-7, 250 pounds – a frame that should work well in the SEC.
Reed is considered to be a high 3-star prospect, considered to the No. 532 overall prospect in the country as well as the No. 63 DL and No. 13 player out of Illinois.
Reed is only the 3rd defensive commitment the Rebels have landed so far in the Class of 2026, joining 4-star LB Izayia Williams and 3-star CB Braylen Williams. As of June 2, the Rebels boast the No. 36 overall recruiting class in the 2026 cycle – though Reed’s commitment should bump that number up a bit.
