Fresh off its first College Football Playoff berth, the Ole Miss football team continues to rack up recruiting victories โ landing 4-star defensive lineman Mitchell Turner on Tuesday as part of the 2027 class.
Rivals first reported that Turner, who is the top prospect in Mississippi and ranked among the top five defensive linemen nationally according to 247 Sports Composite, chose the Rebels over offers from Alabama, Texas, Mississippi State and Arkansas.
The 6-foot-3 Turner, who is a rising senior at Louisville (Miss.) High School, is an attacking front-line defender with experience inside and outside who gets on top of blockers quickly and with power to spare. He is also a multi-sport athlete at Louisville, hitting .522 with 18 RBIs and a 1.355 OPS as a sophomore baseball player.
Turner headlines a 2027 Ole Miss recruiting class that has 16 commitments to date, including fellow 4-star defensive linemen Marvin Nguetsop and Jamarkus Pittman.
Ole Miss survived the tumultuous exit of former coach Lane Kiffin to post a 13-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play โ highlighted by CFP victories against Tulane and Georgia before falling to Miami in the semifinals.
The Rebels kick off the 2026 season with non-conference home dates against Louisville on Sept. 6 (7:30 pm ET, ABC) and Charlotte on Sept. 12 (7:45 pm ET) before welcoming in the Kiffin-led LSU Tigers on Sept. 19 (7:30 pm ET, ABC).
