Ole Miss lands first 2028 commitment with pledge from in-state WR

Ole Miss is on the board for 2028.
While most recruiting observers are focused on the Class of 2027, which begins signing in December, coaches are always looking ahead. Pete Golding‘s staff has its first Class of 2028 pledge in the fold.

Latedrick Mallard says he’s staying close to home to play college football. Mallard announced his commitment to the Rebels on Monday via social media.

Out of McComb (Mississippi) High School, Mallard is listed as measuring 6-1 and 180 pounds. At this time, Mallard does not have a rating on the 247Sports Composite.

At this early stage of the process, Mallard has 5 scholarship offers and there’s a notable Mississippi flavor to his offer list. In addition to Ole Miss, Mississippi State also extended an offer to Mallard. Former Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen’s UNLV program and former Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders’ program are also among the programs to offer Mallard.
