Former Georgia defensive back Joenel Aguero has committed to transfer to Ole Miss. Aguero shared the news with On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The 5-foot-11 rising senior was a 12-game starter for the SEC champion Bulldogs in 2025. He’ll come to Oxford with 1 year of eligibility remaining.

Aguero was a 5-star recruit when he signed with the Bulldogs in the 2023 class. He was a prep star from Massachusetts, viewed as one of the top safety prospects in the country. When he got to Georgia, he blocked a punt in the 2023 rivalry matchup with Florida, but mostly played in a reserve role and on special teams.

In 2024, Aguero made 5 starts in 11 appearances and posted 26 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss.

This past season, in 12 starts, he had 39 tackles, 3 pass breakups, and an interception. He had 6 tackles in the first meeting between Georgia and Ole Miss on Oct. 18. He did not play for the Dawgs in the College Football Playoff after suffering a wrist injury in early December.

He leaves Athens with 36 total appearances across 3 seasons, 72 tackles, 3 TFLs, 4 pass breakups, 1 interception, and 1 blocked kick.

Aguero becomes the 10th known transfer pledge for coach Pete Golding, and adds to a transfer haul that currently ranks fifth nationally by 247Sports.
