Days before Thanksgiving and the annual Egg Bowl showdown, Ole Miss has reportedly lost some depth along its offensive line.
Ole Miss true freshman offensive lineman Carter Colquitt has entered the NCAA transfer portal, OM Spirit reported, and added that his name first appeared in the portal on Monday. Colquitt had not appeared in any games for the Rebels this season. The report said that Colquitt told the coaching staff last week of his decision before leaving campus for Thanksgiving.
The 6-5, 300-pounder was a 3-star recruit out of Buford (Ga.) High School and had 21 offers according to 247Sports. He was rated as the nation’s No. 94 offensive tackle prospect but was working at the center position at Ole Miss. Coming out of high school, SEC offers reportedly included Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri and Vanderbilt as a high school prospect. He chose Ole Miss over N.C. State.
Colquitt is the seventh Ole Miss player to enter the transfer portal this season, after quarterback Grant Tisdale, wide receivers Miles Battle and Demarcus Gregory, cornerback Montrell Custis, safety C.J. Miller and defensive back Kam White.
