Ole Miss plays ‘Neck,’ ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge’ to troll LSU after win over Tigers

The Ole Miss Rebels felt betrayed when Lane Kiffin left them for the LSU Tigers. Saturday night, they got a measure of revenge on Kiffin by beating LSU 32-24 in his return to Oxford. And afterward, as victors, they got to enjoy their spoils.
Once time had run out in Ole Miss’ win, the Rebels played Garth Brooks’ Callin’ Baton Rouge over their public address system. The popular country song is one LSU uses to get its crowd going ahead of kickoff at Tiger Stadium.
While that went on, the Ole Miss band played Neck, LSU’s band’s and student section’s anthem.
Beyond winning a national championship, Rebel fans may not experience a sweeter feeling of victory than the one of Saturday night. Ole Miss jumped on LSU with four straight scoring possessions to end the first half and carried a 24-7 lead into the locker room. The Tigers responded with 17 straight points to open the second half, but quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’ 14-yard touchdown run proved enough for the Rebels to hold off their Magnolia Bowl foe.
Ole Miss (3-0, 1-0 SEC) takes on the Florida Gators (3-0, 1-0 SEC) in Week 4. Kickoff between the Rebels and Gators in Gainesville is 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 26 (ABC).
