Ole Miss staff not convinced Sam Leavitt injury is ‘sincere,’ per Pete Thamel

LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt was listed doubtful on the initial Week 3 SEC availability report Wednesday night, a shocking development ahead of the most anticipated matchup of the season at Ole Miss.
That is, assuming the injury is legit.
According to Pete Thamel on Thursday morning, the Rebels staff has its doubts. Thamel posted on X that “no one on the Ole Miss staff is convinced Sam Leavitt’s appearance as doubtful on the injury report is sincere and he’ll miss the game on Saturday.”
In other words, Ole Miss believes Lane Kiffin is attempting to sabotage their prep.
Can you blame Ole Miss for being skeptical? After all, we’re talking about a head coach that has proven he’ll do just about anything to win — including fake injuries on the field and pursuing the addition of NFL players prior to the 2026 season.
According to the SEC’s website, relaying inaccurate information on SEC availability reports can incur a fine of anywhere from $25,000 to $100,000. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported Wednesday night, soon after the availability report was released, that Leavitt is dealing with an upper-body issue and did not throw at practice earlier Wednesday.
