Oregon and Ohio State entered the game on Saturday understanding a loss for either team would probably end any hope of making it to the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes took an early 14-0 lead, and appeared to be well on their way to a blowout home victory.

However, the Ducks responded by scoring 38 straight points, and ended up winning the game, 41-28.

The 38 unanswered points for the Ducks were the most the Buckeyes have allowed in a home game since 1990.

Dylan Raiola has been a roller coaster since taking over for Dante Moore, as he was even benched for a game just a couple of weeks ago. However, while he has struggled at times, he has also played outstanding at times as well. Saturday was a perfect example of that, as Raiola went 25 of 40 for 257 yards and two touchdowns.

The injury to Julian Sayin has been brutal for the Buckeyes, as they have lost consecutive games against USC and now Oregon. The Ducks did a phenomenal job of taking superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith out of the game. He finished with seven catches for 133 yards and one touchdown, but over half those yards and the touchdown were after the game was way in hand.

With this result, this all but eliminates the Buckeyes from the CFP race. With how they have looked since Sayin left, it isn’t likely that the committee would put them in even if they won their last three games.

For the Ducks, they still have a chance. They are going to need some chaos throughout the college football world, but there has already been plenty of that this year.
