Oregon and UCLA battled in Eugene on Saturday in a game that is turning heads around the nation as the Bruins continue to lead in Eugene. It has been a physical, defensive-minded type of game with a ton of physicality. However, Ducks defensive lineman Bear Alexander threw a punch at UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava, but he wasn’t penalized because the officials didn’t see the punch.
The play comes just two weeks after Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was knocked out of a game as USC linebacker Desman Stephens delivered a vicious shot as Moore was sliding.
Iamaleava actually left the field for a play due to an injury on that play, but that was a lower-body injury and wasn’t impacted by the punch. Alexander started his college career at Georgia, where he played during the 2022 season. After that year, he went to USC and played two seasons for the Trojans before transferring to Oregon last year.
The Bruins have been one of the biggest surprises to start the college football season, as Bob Chesney has come in and completely changed the culture for the Bruins. He was at James Madison and helped the Dukes make it to the College Football Playoff last season. He appears to be on his way to a transformation similar to Indiana coach Curt Cignetti, who was the coach at James Madison before Chesney.
