The Oxford Police Department seems just thrilled to hear that Ole Miss‘s reunion with former head coach Lane Kiffin and his LSU Tigers is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Can’t you tell?
In what was already expected to be an emotionally charged matchup, now the Oxford Police Department gets to endure thousands of drunk fans after dark — which could be especially brutal if Ole Miss loses. Even worse if it’s a close matchup or a dramatic finish.
For reference, let’s take a trip down memory lane and review at what happened when Kiffin returned to Knoxville for the first time since leaving for USC:
Unfortunately for the Oxford Police Department, there’s a good chance this one goes down to the wire. The Rebels and Tigers are both set to be top 25 teams next season with solid quarterback play and good coaching on either side. The Rebels have who is expected to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football with Trinidad Chambliss under center, while Kiffin’s LSU squad is balanced all over the field.
Kiffin hasn’t exactly held back on Ole Miss since leaving, either. He’s been in the news this week for making comments about Ole Miss’s disadvantages when it comes to recruiting, specifically pointing out that Ole Miss’s location, lack of diversity and racial history served as a deal-breaker for families of some recruits.
Gete your popcorn ready, folks. LSU at Ole Miss is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be aired on ABC in Week 3, September 19.
