Tennessee dominated No. 6 Kentucky on Saturday night, as the Volunteers pulled away with a huge fourth quarter to get the 34-6 win. In their previous home game, the Volunteers were also dominant, as they knocked off the Crimson Tide, 24-10.

The consecutive home wins against top-10 teams is something the Volunteers haven’t done since 1999.

For much of Josh Heupel‘s time as the Tennessee coach, the Volunteers have been an electric passing attack that wasn’t always great on defense. This year, it is a complete 180, as the Volunteers lean on the run more than ever, but the defense is also one of the best in the country.

In the win on Saturday night, the Volunteers’ defense made life for Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey very difficult. He finished with 224 yards and one interception, while also having a fumble.

The Tennessee defense forced three turnovers on the night, while also having four sacks and eight tackles for loss.

With the win, Heupel and his team are in a very good spot when it comes to making the College Football Playoff.

The Volunteers will look to remain on the path for a playoff spot when they travel to College Station next week to take on Texas A&M.
