Pat McAfee was reportedly very upset with a particular College GameDay segment that was aired last fall.

McAfee and the rest of the GameDay crew were in Norman, Oklahoma, last September ahead of Oklahoma’s highly-anticipated matchup with Tennessee. Earlier in the week, the crew went out to the Oklahoma softball facility to take some batting practice against the Sooners, who were, at the time, the 4-time defending national champs in softball.

GameDay shot and aired some of the footage from that outing, which included multiple whiffs from McAfee as he faced Oklahoma pitchers. According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, McAfee was upset that clips of him whiffing were aired. Here’s an excerpt from Marchand’s reporting:

McAfee cares about his image. During a GameDay stop in Norman, Oklahoma, last fall, McAfee grew upset about being shown swinging and missing during a segment in which he faced a University of Oklahoma softball pitcher. McAfee, according to sources briefed on the incident, demanded to know the name of the GameDay staff member who put it on the air, but he was denied the information.

Video of the segment in question is tough to find via official ESPN channels. However, Oklahoma Softball did share video from GameDay’s outing at Love’s Field last fall. While it’s unclear if this video is the specific segment McAfee was reportedly upset about, it does feature McAfee whiffing on several pitches at about the 1:15 mark:

This was not the only revelation in Marchand’s story on McAfee. His reporting also suggests McAfee has considered a solo venture to compete with College GameDay. McAfee also reportedly has banned ESPN’s Adam Schefter from appearing on his show due to a missed appearance back in March.

McAfee’s daily ESPN show begins at 12 p.m. ET, so it’s possible he will address this report live on air.
