Pat McAfee praises LSU crowd for weathering storm during blowout win over Clemson

Pat McAfee and the rest of the college football world had been talking about LSU for the past month as the Tigers considering bringing in players who were on NFL rosters during the off-season. Ultimately, LSU decided to not bring those players in for the Week 1 game against Clemson. LSU steered the conversation back to football in Week 1 as the Tigers dominated Dabo Swinney’s team, 51-10.
Before the game, there was a long lightning delay that pushed the game back by over an hour — and the blustery conditions continued throughout most of the remainder of the game. On Friday, McAfee gave credit to the LSU fans, saying they did a great job of weathering the storm during the win against Clemson.
“Whenever you have these people down here, and you’re winning, it’s a real weapon,” McAfee said on his show. “They stuck through that lightning. They were told they have to get out of there, and they didn’t budge.”
Lane Kiffin came to LSU to win, and the Tigers couldn’t have started any better. There had been a ton of anger between the SEC and LSU recently, but the decision to not bring those players back has seemed to ease the tension. For Kiffin and his team, now the focus can be all about going and competing for a title.
